Fishing Report, Northeast Florida

Fishing Report, Northeast Florida

By CAPTAIN BRIAN WALKER

Fishing has been good both inshore and offshore. We have been fishing behind the shrimp boats on the beach looking for tarpon. They have not been there but they are loaded with large sharks.

Kingfish are biting good on the near shore wrecks. One day last week we were king fishing, and we were fighting a nice king just about to bring the fish in the boat and a large barracuda destroyed half of the fish right under the boat. The barracudas are very thick.

We have caught lots of mangrove snapper this week in the creeks. Red fishing slowed down a little with full moon last week but should improve. Flounder fishing continues to still be good.

Hopefully Hurricane Fay will not affect us with more than wind and rain this week. But it looks like we will have bad weather the next couple days. The weather should be better for next weekend. The fish should be very good on the beach after this storm passes.
