Macclenny man killed in tropical storm

On Tuesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the man who died last Thursday in a storm related accident. John F. Bryan, 44, of Macclenny, was one of four area deaths blamed on Tropical Storm Fay.

Bryan was the driver, and sole occupant of a small pick-up, eastbound in the 8700 block of Acree Road when witnesses say he failed to negotiate a right hand curve on the wet road. The vehicle exited the north side of the roadway and traveled through a ditch and overturned. Bryan was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
