Suns to Partner with USO

Suns to Partner with USO

The Jacksonville Suns are stepping up to the plate to help a vital organization benefiting this area's military families by announcing an official Greater Jacksonville Area "USO Night." One dollar of every ticket sold at the August 25th game against the Birmingham Barons will go towards supporting the GJA USO, which is currently operating $180,000 in the red due to funding cutbacks.

Recently, the Greater Jacksonville Area USO made a call to action to the Jacksonville community, asking for help, and the Suns are responding. If funds continue to decrease, the USO could have to scale back hours of services until our community can respond in full force. The Greater Jacksonville Area USO is not funded by the federal government and depends on local support.

"It's important that the USO remain a vital force in the Jacksonville community, with Jacksonville being one of the largest military cities in the nation. I am challenging Jacksonville, and Jacksonville Suns Fans, to step up to the plate, and make a donation," said Peter Bragan Jr., President of the Jacksonville Suns.

The USO will set up a table on the concourse of the baseball park, giving out more information about how to donate and help their local chapter throughout the game.

"I am very grateful for the Suns participating with the USO and declaring this USO Night. With participation such as this replicated with other organizations and businesses, we can better inform our community on how the programs and services we offer are important to our military and their families, and generate much needed financial support to sustain these programs and services." said K.C. McCarthy, Executive Director of the Greater Jacksonville Area USO.
