FSU season preview
     Hurricanes and football are two sure signs that summer in Florida is coming to an end. And the Seminoles open their football season Saturday night at Doak Campbell Stadium against the Catamounts of Western Carolina.

Dogs and Gators open season with dominant wins
     Whether you bleed orange and blue or red and black, fans of SEC football had to be pleased with their teams performances during the opening weekend of the college season. The top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs team delighted their home crowd with a 45-21 victory over Georgia Southern in their season opener at Sanford Stadium. The Gator’s defense showed their fans how much they had improved over last season with a smothering 56 to 10 victory over visiting Hawaii in front of 90,575 at Florida Field.

     After waiting over two weeks to get on the field, junior college transfer running back Tavares Pressley was handed another set back to his season during last weeks practice - his second week on the field.

Josh McGregor leads second half rally as JU defeats Savannah State
     After being shutout in the first half of the season opener at Savannah State, JU head coach Kerwin Bell felt like there needed to be a change on offense. Freshman quarterback Josh McGregor came on in relief and led the Dolphins to three straight scoring drives as the Dolphins dominated the second half en route to a 20-7 win at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

Women’s soccer downs Duquesne in double overtime, 2-1
     Sophomore forward Jelena Vrcelj made her first goal of the season an important one as she scored in the left corner of the net during the second overtime to help the JU women’s soccer team down Duquesne, 2-1, on Friday night at the Ashley Sports Complex.
