Sport ShortsJaguars Sign SpencerThursday, September 04, 2008 - The Jaguars today signed veteran free agent offensive tackle Charles Spencer and placed offensive tackle Richard Collier on the reserve/non-football injury list. Spencer, 26, was waived by the Houston Texans on July 22 after spending two seasons with the Texans. The 6-4, 337-pounder started the first two games of the 2006 season at left tackle before missing the remainder of the 2006 season with a broken leg. He missed the 2007 season while on the Physically Unable to Perform list. The Poughkeepsie, New York native was originally selected by the Texans in the third round of the 2006 NFL draft out of Pittsburgh. He will wear jersey No. 72. 19th Annual Endless Summer Watermelon RideNorth Florida Bicycle Club proudly presents the "19th Annual ESWR" A classic one-day bicycle event designed for the experienced road rider, the touring cyclist, the intermediate and the beginner cyclist on September 7. In other words, all bicyclists are welcome. The route distances are 30, 45,65, 80 and 100 miles and primarily traverse lightly traveled country roads. This will be the third Watermelon Ride starting at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center located at 13611 Normandy Blvd., 32221. Past riders have been very pleased with the new facilities which include huge men's and women's restrooms which can each accommodate 55 people. We also have parking for up to 1000 cars. Bring your bathing suit and a towel and take a cool dip after the ride in the olympic size pool. Shower facilities are also available. |
