Hanna could threaten state

Hanna could threaten state

The latest projections by the National Hurricane Center moves Tropical Storm Hanna nearer to Florida this week.

The storm is expected to strengthen to a hurricane by Tuesday, before turning north and passing along the east coast of Florida by the end of the week.

Almost the entire state remains in the forecast cone even though forecasters believe Hanna will make landfall in Georgia or the Carolinas. Most models used by the National Hurricane Center project that Hanna will pass 100 miles of Jacksonville Beach as a Category 1 hurricane.

Swells from Hanna are expected to increase the risk of dangerous rip currents along portions of the southeastern coast during the next couple of days.
