Multiple units from the Charlton County fire department have been dispatched to the Chesser Island Regional Landfill after reports of a fire. Units from Folkston and St. George are responding to suppress and contain the fire of unknown origin. More...

Prices at some gas stations in the North Florida area have spiked, some to more than $5.00 a gallon in the wake of Hurricane Ike causing state officials to warn that price gouging will not condoned. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles Bronson is asking residents who have any evidence that price gouging has occurred to immediately contact his office and has pledged to investigate. The threat of Hurricane Ike on the oil refineries along the Gulf Coast have sent some gas prices spiking and have some stations asking customers to limit their purchases on Thursday.
