"The Fairly Big Broadcast of 1937"

"The Fairly Big Broadcast of 1937"

Remember Orson Welles' famed "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast of Halloween, 1938? Here's the play that tells how it was done first...and wrong.

"The Fairly Big Broadcast of 1937" is a new one-act comedy from writer-director Steve Bailey ("Plan Nine from Outer Space: The Rip-Off") and co-stars local jazz singer and recording artist Dot Wilder. The play will have its "world premiere" on the 70th anniversary of Welles' original broadcast. In association with Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre (ABET), the play will be performed at 8 p.m. for two nights only -- Thurs. and Fri., Oct. 30, and 31, 2008. Performances will be at Adele Grage Cultural Center, 716 Ocean Blvd., Atlantic Beach, Florida. Admission is $10. You may call for reservations at (904) 249-7177.
