Peabody’s severed head found in Polk County

POSTED 09/18/08 - Peabody, a captive, domestic, trophy, 12-point buck living on a Lake Butler game farm was killed and decapitated on September 6. His severed head was found late Tuesday in a Polk County taxidermy shop according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

No arrests have been made yet, but investigators are continuing interviews. Stealing or killing game farm animals is prosecuted under the same felony laws as stealing or killing livestock.
