Finally Friday

LAKE CITY, FL - Finally Friday on September 26. Come downtown to Olustee Park and enjoy music and a movie. It's FREE entertainment. Always held on the last Friday of the month, it's where everyone needs to be. Bring the entire family - we have something for the young and the "young at heart". There will be food and drinks for sale. It's a great time to meet the community. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for a great evening of fun.


Family Fun Day

ATLANTIC BEACH, FL - Don't miss Atlantic Beach's Annual Family Fun Day & Campout this October! Spend a wonderful afternoon and evening of great activities for the whole family.

Reservations for campsites begins August 18th at the Recreation office at Bull Park (Ocean & 7th). Campsites are still $10. Groups and families are invited to reserve early for this year's "better than ever" event. We'll have the ever-popular inflatables. rope bridge, petting zoo, magic, balloons and face painting. This year, weather permitting, Prince Pele's Polynesian Revue will be joining us along with Shiver me Timbers! PIRATES! aaaaarrrrrrr!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

JACKSONVILLE BEACH - A 5K beach walk, run or bike to celebrate life and breast cancer survivorship will be held from 8 am to Noon on October 11, 2008 at the Sea Walk Pavilion & Beach. Funds benefit the American Cancer society's programs of education, patient services, advocacy & research. For more information: 904-249-0022

Morocco Shrine Circus

The 49th Annual Morocco Shrine Circus is coming to town September 20 at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and September 21 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the University of North Florida Arena, 4567 St. Johns Bluff Road South.

Tickets are $12 for general seating and available at Morocco Shrine Center, 3800 St. Johns Bluff Road South, just south of Beach Boulevard.


Art exhibit

LAKE CITY, FL - The 4th Annual Juried Art Exhibit is set for September 26 to November 6 at the Alfonso Levy Performing Arts Center on the campus of Lake City Community College.

Entries will be accepted on September 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Artists 18 years or older may enter two pieces and compete for $1,500 in prizes. Fee for members is $25 and non-members $35, which includes ALNF membership.

Entry forms will be emailed to Art League members, and mailed to those members who cannot receive email. Forms will also be available at The Art Gallery or call Sue Hall at 386-755-1109. You may also email Joan at fetchenj@comcast.net


Amelia Island Film Festival inaugural

Fernandina Beach's Newest Festival opens with an exciting array of over 25 Screenings of 45 Independent, Classic and Foreign Films. The Amelia Island Film Festival takes place September 25-28 at four venues: The Fernandina Woman's Club, The Peck Center, Florida House Inn and The Palace Saloon.
