Player Spotlight - Union County’s Brodie

At six foot one inches tall and 190 pounds, Brodie Ellis # 85 can be found on both sides of the ball. Brodie plays Tight End on offense and doubles down as a formidable defensive end when the opposing team has the ball. I liked his favorite saying after a big hit…"You better get used to that view, you’re gonna be seeing it all night."

Brodie is a third year letterman for the Union County Tigers and realizes this is probably his last year playing organized football. He said he just loves the game, even after losing a game several weeks ago by a large margin, he was glad he had the chance to play.

Brodie maintains a 4.2 weighted GPA and would like to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville. He loves math and would like to study to become a chemical engineer someday once he finishes his studies at Florida. His favorite college athlete is Florida’s Tim Tebow, not necessarily because of his athleticism, but for his witness and the way he chooses to live his life.

Brodie credits his father Dwayne Ellis as one of his true hero’s. His Dad played baseball and loves to come to practice and the games to see him play. Brodie said this week would be the first time his Dad won’t get to see him play, due to a mission trip to Honduras that his father and other members of his Church are on.

His favorite food is a concoction that only his family knows by the name: "Gula Gula" . It’s a cross between hamburger helper and beef stroganoff. Either way, it’s a family tradition that made his eyes light up when he said it. As for desserts, there were no specifics, just anything sweet will do.
