McCain makes Jacksonville the first stop on a two-day Florida tour

Republican presidential nominee John McCain will be in Jacksonville today for the first stop in his latest campaign trip to Florida. McCain, who has ties to the area since living in Orange Park while serving in the Navy, will speak at today’s event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

After today’s speech he will travel on to Orlando and Miami, and then to Tampa on Tuesday.

The presidential campaign is going into the final months and recent polls show McCain and Democratic nominee Barack Obama in an extremely close race for the office.
