OBITUARIES
June L. O'SteenSeptember 22, 2008 - June L. O'Steen 85, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, September 20, 2008. A native of Portland, New York she spent her early childhood in Callahan, Fla. before moving to Fernandina Beach in 1935 and later graduating from Fernandina Beach High School in 1939. Mrs. O'Steen worked at Beach Beauty Salon as a distributor for Merle Norman Cosmetics as well as a dedicated homemaker for many years. She was a longtime member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina, in addition to being an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and knitting all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly forty years Fred E. O'Steen in October 1981 and by her brother Rex Dudley. Her survivors include her sons Eric O'Steen (Fran) , and David O'Steen both of Fernandina Beach, Fla., daughter, Cindy Morris (Pete) of Salisbury, North Carolina, by three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of her life to be held at her home by her family at a time and date to be announced soon. She will be laid to rest privately beside her husband in Bosque-Bello Cemetery at a later date. Please share her life story at www.oxleyheard.com.
