In My Opinion
Does anybody remember Caylee?
In My OpinionDoes anybody remember Caylee?"Also Friday, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating an incident Thursday night involving residents who live near the Anthony home, Guardian Angels, some onlookers and a Taser." The above is a direct quote from the Orlando Sentinel from one of their latest stories about Casey Anthony. You notice, I said Casey Anthony, not Caylee Marie Anthony. I think that’s where the distinction lies. The victim in the case, a missing 3-year-old is no longer the "story." Instead her mother Casey and grandparent’s Cindy and George is now "the big news." I know police and investigators are continuing their search for evidence and the truth, but the quiet, and (probably if we admit it) routine and time-consuming investigation, can’t compare to the circus surrounding the adult members of the Anthony family. The atmosphere out the Anthonys’ house has reached a dangerous level. Protestors ranging from your average stay-at-home mom to college students are there around the clock. Most are quietly protesting, but many, frustrated and outraged that Casey Anthony isn't in jail, have turned ugly. There have been tense confrontations between some protestors and neighbors who are now trying for the second time to get an injunction to move protesters to the end of the street. The original injunction was denied because protesters weren’t legally notified. There have also been clashes with George and Cindy Anthony. More than once George Anthony has come storming out of the house approaching protesters in a face-to-face screaming match. Cindy has gone one-on-one with a couple too. Let’s not forget the infamous shots of her with a hammer and a metal baseball bat. While I believe those protestors have a right to be there as long as they stay off private property and use a little common sense to not disrupt the innocent neighborhood, a few "bad apples" are certainly spoiling the whole reason of the protest to remind people there IS a victim in this case. I also believe that the Anthonys’ are enjoying this circus way too much. Instead of rushing out to confront strangers in the middle of the night, why not stay inside and call the police? That way you don’t ignite further encounters. Oh, but that won’t insure you a headline in the morning’s paper, will it? |
