FSU: Miami Week gets underway with a 22 period practice Tuesday
     POSTED 10/01/2008 - Florida State versus Miami is a legendary series and while it may not captivate the nation’s attention as it once did, it is just as big on the respective campuses as it ever was. You could hear that in the voice of Miami’s Corey Surrency in his post practice interviews Tuesday and you sure couldn’t tell it wasn’t a No. 1 versus No. 2 battle listening to head coach Bobby Bowden as well.

     Senior forward Keri Zwikker scored twice, while sophomore forward Jelena Vrcelj recorded a goal and an assist to help the JU women’s soccer team down USC Upstate, 3-1, in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex

UF falls to Ole Miss, 31-30
     In front of a packed house at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the No. 4 Florida Gators lost a close one to the Ole Miss Rebels Saturday afternoon. The Rebels drew first blood with a 70-yard, 10-play drive at the 3:12 mark of the first quarter. The score marked the first time that the Gators trailed this season and the first time the UF defense allowed a touchdown in the first half.

Davidson rallies past JU, 38-35
     The Dolphins (2-3, 1-1 PFL) saw a big lead evaporate in the second half for the second straight week, watching Davidson (2-1, 1-0 PFL) turn a 35-14 deficit into a 38-35 win on Homecoming with Ben Behrendt’s 23-yard field goal with 43 seconds left in the game.

Third-Ranked Bulldogs Upset By No. 8 Alabama, 41-30
     ATHENS, Ga. --- Despite a spirited second-half rally, No. 3 Georgia dropped a 41-30 decision to No. 8 Alabama on Saturday at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs had their 11-game winning streak snapped as they fell to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC. Alabama improved to 5-0 and 2-0.

     For the 500th time in his illustrious coaching career Bobby Bowden took the field Saturday. And as flat as his team played for game 499 was how sharp they played Saturday night enroute to a 39-21 victory over the Colorado Buffalos.
