Lake Butler woman hospitalized after crashing into police car

A 68-year-old Lake Butler woman was hospitalized Friday night after crashing into a Bradford County Sheriff’s deputy who pulled out in front of her while making a U-turn.

Linda T. Barber was taken to North Florida Regional Medical Center in serious condition after her vehicle hit the unmarked patrol car and went off the road and down an embankment before impacting a fence and a tree.

Deputy Keith McInnis, 45, was traveling northbound on SR 231 when he pulled off to the right and made a U-turn to head back south. Florida Highway Patrol reports indicate that Deputy McInnis pulled into the path of Ms. Barber who was heading northbound. Deputy McInnis told troopers that glare from the setting sun blocked his view of the oncoming car.

Reports indicate that charges are pending the investigation.
