COACH’S FORUM

Bradford County Tornadoes

COACH’S FORUM

Bradford County Tornadoes

This past Friday the Tornadoes defeated a very talented Fernandina Beach Pirates football team  19-17. I was extremely pleased of our team’s effort. We still have a long way to go in becoming  the type of team that we are working towards. This win was a step in the right direction. The game was hard fought by both teams and went down to the wire.

Several of our players had outstanding performances but it was a total team effort that made the win possible. The offense scored enough and made big plays when they had to make them. The defense forced five turnovers and closed the door several times late in the game. Two seniors who are first year players and standouts on our baseball team had big games. Trey Winkler at quarterback had a touchdown pass to Tramaine Harris and a sixty-five yard touchdown run. Charles Jones had two interceptions, one in the closing minutes to seal the game for us from his corner back position.

This week we play West Nassau High School at home at 7:30pm. The Warriors are coming off of a tough loss in overtime to county rival Yulee High School. They were without their standout running back. We expect to see him on the field Friday night. Our team will have a tremendous challenge Friday night and we need our fans to show up in force for what will be our first home game of the season. Our players and coaches are looking forward to playing at home. GO TORNADOES !
