Phoenix Contracting Group planning homes in Florida's Deep Creek Plantation

POSTED 10/02/2008 - Stalwart Built Homes of Panama City, Fla. has announced that Jacksonville-based Phoenix Contracting Group has been licensed as the regional guild builder for the nationally known building science and construction technology company.

Florida and South Georgia are ready for new homes that exceed extreme standards for energy efficiency, wind capacity and air quality according to Rob Hamby, president of Phoenix Contracting Group.

Phoenix plans on building LEED certified, "net zero" homes in Deep Creek Plantation. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ by the U.S. Green Building Council encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building. Earlier this year StalwartBuilt earned the definitive credential in the green building industry -- a Platinum score from the LEED for Homes rating system - making a single-family "net zero" energy residence in Callaway, Fla. - the first in the Southeast and the second in the country.

Deep Creek Plantation, the gated, equestrian-friendly community is located along the east bank of the St. Marys River in one of Northeast Florida's most naturally pristine areas. Thickly forested rolling elevations vary as much as 40 feet offer a truly distinctive landscape. Conscious of this exceptional environment, Deep Creek Plantation has modeled itself as a true riverfront preserve, devoting over 50 percent of its 910 total acres to conservation,

StalwartBuilt Homes has long been committed to creating improved construction processes with untraditional, creative thinking. Now, Phoenix Contracting is concentrating on the highest green certification on the planet, LEED Platinum, establishing a new benchmark in residential construction industry.

"Believing that the homeowners drawn by Deep Creek Plantation's remarkable setting will be equally passionate about preserving its beauty, we plan to offer residents the opportunity to take advantage of the most advanced green building science available, including a solar powered "net zero" energy option" said Lee Wedekind, Jr., president of Deep Creek Plantation Development.

Extreme green features can include solar panels providing energy, a "desuperheater" providing free hot water, geothermal unit for heating and air, spray foam insulation in the attic and under the house for a perfectly sealed "building envelope," high-tech air filtration system, low-E windows, sustainable bamboo flooring, ENERGY STAR rated GE appliances, and low VOC paint.

Deep Creek Plantation has sold almost 30 percent of its lots prior to a grand opening. Offering a blend of nature, amenities and large acreage estate homesites, lot sizes in Deep Creek Plantation range from 2.3 acres to 15 acres, averaging in excess of 200-feet wide and begin in the $140s.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Secretary of Energy honored StalwartBuilt Homes as a pioneer green building technology.

With offices in Jacksonville, Port Richie and Tallahassee, Phoenix is a licensed StalwartBuilt Guild builder of "Beyond Green" homes. For more information, contact Phoenix Contracting at (904) 838-4719, or visit their website at www.phoenixcontractinggroup.com.
