I listen to all this talk in the media about the failure of the bailout in the House Monday -- what happened? Where did it go wrong? Why didn't it pass? They're running around pointing fingers -- saying it was the Democrats, it was the Republicans, it was the White House -- and nobody has a clue of what really happened and who made it happen. More ... We have this year a historic race for the office of president and also one that is more exciting than those in recent times, with two dynamic contenders, one of whom will guide our nation during a very trying and difficult time while we face serious challenges within the sectors of global economics, national security, and domestic issues. More ... Sweaty, wrestling scholars have yet to establish whether it's a Chinese, Arabian or American curse; nonetheless somebody once said, "May you live in interesting times." And sure as God made the larva of the coddling moth eager to worm its way into the core of little green apples, we are knee-deep in the middle of one of those "interesting times." It's early October, which always makes me think of Lily, my best friend's child, and her approaching birthday. This year she turns 22 years old but it has been a handful of years since we lost her. Not lost in actual space. We all know where the beautiful slip of a girl is at any given moment. It's her mind that stepped out with no indication of when she'll return. The girl who used to embrace us so enthusiastically no longer knows the faces in front of her. More ... |
