And those numbers are from 2005, three years ago. Some experts say the number is even higher now. The report shows 24 percent of residents were uninsured making the state the third-highest rate in the country, behind only Texas at 26.3 percent and New Mexico at 24.2 percent. Baker County has the lowest rate of uninsured residents with only 15.3 percent with insurance. DeSoto County has the highest percentage with 37.3 percent.
