You can see what you want to see

By JOHN MCCOY

You can see what you want to see

Would you like a view of the ocean - even if you live far from the coast and actually have no windows on that wall? If you would, Karen Clifton (Karen's Creations) can show you the way.

Born in Jacksonville, Karen grew up in Baker County. You may have seen her murals and backdrops in Nassau, Baker and Duval County schools or perhaps in a local church. Gray Gables in Callahan has one of her scenes. Doctor's offices, model homes and many other locations also have examples of her extraordinary work.

She's been an artist, specializing in wall murals, most of her life and in the "wall mural" business for nine years. She pointed out that it's much simpler than regular painting or putting up wall paper and, once it's set for about 24 hours, her acrylic paint is permanent. The wall can be washed without damage. If you decide you don't like the scene, just paint over it. She can help you with that, too.

She's illustrated one children's book, "Mabel is Able," and will be doing others in this series.

Karen has worked with the Baker County Chamber of Commerce and done caricatures of that County's commissioners as well as at private parties. Karen's talent has won her several awards and she designed the annual Cajun Crawfish Festival for three consecutive years.

She has more than six years teaching experience: two years in Baker County, three years in Jacksonville (Juvenile Justice Program) and 18 months at "Daniel," a live-in foster home in Jacksonville.

Karen has been married to Chris Clifton since 1994. They have two children, a son, Wyatt, 8 and a daughter, Jessie, 5. Both show artistic abilities as well.

She paints almost anything almost anywhere and like she say, "loves to paint on other peoples' walls." Charges vary but she doesn't charge by the hour. Discuss your needs with her.

You can reach Karen by calling her cell phone, (904) 403-9126; home, (904) 879-1074 or by email at kcreationsart@netscape.net.
