Middleburg resident named Academic All-American for Seminole Community College Middleburg resident named Academic All-American for Seminole Community CollegeSANFORD, FL - Seminole Community College’s women’s softball team ranks No. 15 on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association list of All-Academic Teams. The Lady Raiders are the only Florida community college team to make the list, which was published Sept. 29. The rankings, based on GPAs submitted for the 2007-2008 school year, honors high school and collegiate softball teams for their success in the classroom. Four members of last year’s team were also named Academic All-Americans because they achieved GPAs of 3.5 or higher: Natalie Beach, of Middleburg: 4.00 Tarte is now attending Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, but the other three athletes have returned for the 2008-2009 season. SCC Head Softball Coach Courtney Miller says her players have the right attitude. "They’re very disciplined," Miller says. "They work real hard in the classroom, just as they do on the field." SCC finished last season 32-28. They also qualified for the FCCAA/NJCAA Atlantic District Tournament. |
