Alcohol-related crashes increase
POSTED 10/18/2008 - A recent report released by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles says crash fatalities have decreased for the second straight year, but alcohol-related deaths have continued to rise.
Fatalities across Florida decreased by 4.28 percent in 2007 compared to the year before, from 3,365 in 2006 to 3,221 in 2007. Injuries also declined by 1.39 percent, from 214,914 to 212,156. However, accident deaths involving alcohol have increased by 13.1 percent, from 1.099 to 1,244.
