Bulldogs sink Commodores
Georgia got two touchdown passes from quarterback Matthew Stafford and a rushing touchdown from tailback Knowshon Moreno to hold off Vanderbilt 24-14 on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.
The Bulldogs (6-1, 3-1 SEC) put the game on ice with 17 seconds remaining as kicker Blair Walsh converted on a 40-yard field goal. Walsh also kicked the three extra points for the Bulldogs.
Stafford passed for 194 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown to receiver A.J. Green and a 9-yard scoring strike to receiver Mohamed Massaquoi. Green finished with 132 yards receiving, including a 49-yarder to set up his touchdown.
Moreno had an 11-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs. He ended the game with 172 yards on 23 carries.
The touchdowns by Green and Massaquoi were set up by interceptions from safety Reshad Jones and linebacker Darius Dewberry, respectively.
Vanderbilt’s touchdowns both came on scoring passes from quarterback Mackenzi Adams to receiver Jamie Graham. The Commodores lost their second straight to fall to 5-2 and 3-2.
The Bulldogs will visit LSU next Saturday.
