LCCC graduates score high grade point averages at Florida's public universities
     Community colleges have no FACT scores to give them a standardized results measure for comparison of their success to other colleges. One measure that can be used to gauge a community college's effectiveness is the grade point average (GPA) of associate in arts (A.A.) transfer students at state universities. So how good a job is Lake City Community College doing?

Service could be restored between New Orleans, Sanford
     POSTED 10/22/2008 - Amtrak service between New Orleans and Sanford, Florida could be restored. The route through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina could be reestablished now that President George W. Bush has signed a five-year authorization of the rail service.

NOAA seeks comments on measures to protect marine mammals
Navy Plans to Conduct Sonar Operations off the Atlantic Coast and Gulf of Mexico
     NOAA’s Fisheries Service is seeking comments through Nov. 13 on its proposed authorization for the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet Active Sonar Training (AFAST) to take place along the Atlantic Coast and in the Gulf of Mexico. The NOAA proposal includes protective measures designed to minimize the effects of the training on marine mammals.
