Decorated vehicles and costumed characters will be giving treats to children 12 and under. A costume contest will be held just prior to the showing of the Halloween themed movie. Explore the haunted halls of the Currents of Time visit the "Under the Sea Halloween Carnival" or the arts and crafts booths. October 31, 6 PM-9 PM; November 1, 10 AM-2 PM; Museum of Science and History, $9 adults, $7.50 military and seniors, $7 ages 3-12 Safe Trick-or-TreatingJACKSONVILLE - On October 31, the Avenues will open its doors for Safe Trick-or-Treating from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Kids are invited to stock up on goodies from participating mall retailers. Radio Disney will be on hand with fun games, prizes and a costume contest in Center Court. The mall will also offer FREE Halloween photos to Simon Kidgits Club members ($5 for non-members). The Baker County Historical Society and the Baker County High School History Club have teamed up to bring you the scare of your life! All proceeds from the Haunted Jail, tours, and refreshment sales contribute to the History Club's annual historical trip and the Old Jail preservation and restoration. A less frightening candlelight tour of the Sheriff's building and upstairs jail cells will provide you with some interesting history about the Old Jail. Haunted HouseFERNANDINA BEACH - The Fernandina Beach branch library will present their second annual Haunted House for Teens and Adults on Oct. 24 from 6-8 p.m. and Oct. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Fernandina Beach branch library, courtesy of Blast. Hall of TerrorJACKSONVILLE - Have a frightening good time at Adventure Landing Jacksonville Beach at the Hall of Terror, a haunted house attraction loaded with spooky fun and horrifying haunts. Enter at your own risk and encounter zombies, ghouls and other frightening creatures. The Hall of Terror is open on select dates between October 10 through November 1. For those looking for something "not-so-scary", try Adventure Landing's HalloWEE Zone. Children will enjoy participating in arts, crafts, games, face painting and more from October 28-31st. Ghost Walking TourFERNANDINA BEACH - Guests on this tour will learn Amelia Island ghost stories as they tiptoe through dark streets and walk in the footsteps of a bygone era as the past comes alive through the skillful storytelling of your guide. This tour begins at 6 PM every Friday and lasts approximately one hour. Meet your guide in the cemetery behind St. Peters Episcopal church located at 801 Atlantic Avenue. SpooktacularJACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Zoo's annual Spooktacular takes place Oct. 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31, Nov. 1. Come to Pumpkinville, the land of pumpkins, for a "spook"tacular good time at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens' annual Halloween celebration. Kid-friendly event features live entertainment, music, bounce houses, face painting and more! Visit the Enchanted Forest with a prince and princess or laugh along as you walk through the funny bone tunnel. Tickets go on sale at 7 p.m. each night. Each event is $2 or you can purchase all three for $5. There will also be a Boo Barn for younger children, stories and singing with Ms. Diane of the Nassau County Public Library, and a concession stand with hot dogs and other treats. All proceeds go to Take Stock in Children, Linda's Legacy Foundation and the United Way/United Communities. Five Points Baptist Church, 736 Bonnieview Road, Fernandina Beach, will host its annual Fall Festival from 6-8:30 p.m. on October 31. Call 261-4615. Nassau Nazarene Fellowship will host a free Fall Festival from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 24 with several stations featuring cake walks, a bounce house and slide, hayrides, door prizes, magic and several stations featuring games with prizes or candy. Springhill Baptist Church, 941017 Old Nassauville Road, will hold its Bethlehem Marketplace from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 29. Admission is one non-perishable food item. There will be food and entertainment for the whole family. Experience the excitement of baby Moses' journey down the Nile, Daniel in the lion's den, the fishermen, David and Goliath, Jonah and the Whale and Noah's ark. DUVAL COUNTY JACKSONVILLE - The Avenues will host a Kidgits Harvest Festival in Center Court from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m on October 25. The event will feature pumpkin decorating and a charity food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Shoppers are encouraged to bring non-perishable items and will receive a special gift for any donations made.
