COACH’S FORUM - Bradford Tornadoes
This past Friday Bradford High School lost 28-6 to a very talented Ribault Trojan football team in Jacksonville. We were down 6-0 at the half but wore down to the much deeper Trojan squad in the second half. Ribault dressed about sixty players to our squad in the twenty range. I have never in twenty eight years of coaching had to deal with so many injuries and injuries that have put players out for the year.
Our JV season ends this week. Our team will really be able to use the help and depth to finish the season. We actually started one ninth grader last week and played two others.
Many of our young men continued to play well vs.Ribault. Terrance Slocum -DT, John Tyson -DT/OT, Charles Jones - CB with two interceptions, Logan Johnson -C played his best game and Tyler Cubbedge - Punter, all had solid games. Several other players played tough as well.
It is tough for the players, coaches and everyone else to have to experience a season like we are going through this year. Most of our youngsters have had great attitudes and have continued to work hard every day at practice and in the weight room.
I am very proud of the attitude our Tornadoes have exhibited so far this season. We need everyone to show up this Friday for our senior night vs. Yulee High School.
Coach Ramsey is doing a great job in his first year at the helm of the Hornet's football program. Yulee H.S. is well coached and is much more athletic than they were last season. The contest should be a hard fought game for both teams. We are looking for a great effort out of our players this week.
Our program greatly appreciates the support and encouragement from so many of our dedicated fans. I would like to especially thank the Tornado Pride Club for it's generous support. The Tornado football team would have a tough time without the TPC's help in most years. The financial crisis that our public schools are dealing with now makes this fine group of supporters even more important for the help that they provide to our players and coaches.
Our middle school program will be playing for the SMAC Championship this Tuesday night in Chiefland. The players and coaches at BMS have done a great job this year. Good luck. Please give our middle school a call for further details. The game should be really exciting.
