The Arboretum will open to the public November 15th. The grand opening celebration will include guided tours by trained naturalists, live music, kids activities, a plant sale and storytelling by a local historian from 10 am to 4 pm. A guided beach walk will be held 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. November 15 at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve south of Ponte Vedra Beach. Walkers should meet at the Guana south beach parking lot about two miles north of the turnoff for the Guana Environmental Education Center. Guana volunteer Rick Edwards will lead the walk and will talk about the importance of the dunes and the animals that live in the beach environs. Reservations are required by calling 823-4500. Walkers should dress for the weather and bring water. Parking is $3 per vehicle. Holiday concert and dinnerReservations are being taken for dinner, a concert by the Jacksonville Symphony and a December trolley ride sponsored by the St. Johns County Council on Aging. The evening beings at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Coastal Community Center, 180 Marine St., St. Augustine. After dinner at the center at 6:30 p.m., the group will leave at 7 p.m. by trolley for the Flagler Auditorium on Granada Street, where the Jacksonville Symphony will present a Holiday Pops Concert. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., and guests will return to the Coastal Community Center by trolley after the performance. Tickets are $50 each.
