Pet Amnesty Day
Pet Amnesty Day
Join us at the Jacksonville Zoo on November 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in an effort to reduce the number of nonnative animals being released into the wild by pet owners who can no longer care for their exotic pets.
This event offers an opportunity for people to surrender their nonnative pets free of charge to the FWC with no questions asked. FWC will accept nonnative reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and mammals. Domestic pets, such as dogs, cats or ferrets, will not be accepted. Every attempt will be made to place all healthy animals with qualified adopters. Potential pet adopters will be recruited from the Jacksonville area and will be required to satisfactorily complete a comprehensive application packet before receiving adopter status.
The event will be held in the Main Parking lot of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and is free to the public. There will also be animal encounters and informational booths.
