Five dozen groups to play at second Bear Creek Festival

LIVE OAK, FLA, November 11, 2008 - Tighten your seat belts, prepare for a jamming weekend and get on out to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park this weekend, Nov. 14-16 for the second annual Bear Creek Festival with more than five dozen groups! The Bear Creek Music and Art Festival will also feature many regional painters and visual artists. Many of these artists will paint during musical performances, capturing their interpretations of the festival experience. Art will be for sale at the festival.

 

The revelry begins with an intimate "pre-festival" kick-off party ($35) at the SOSMP Thursday, Nov. 13 for weekend ticket holders only. Events kick off at 7 p.m. Thursday evening; noon Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, ending about midnight Sunday.

For $145 (a weekend ticket) and a non-perishable food item, you can spend three days in primitive camping, attend the shows and have a great time! All patrons are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank of Suwannee Valley drive going on during the festival. Paul Levine, the mastermind behind this huge event, said he feels that in the spirit of the holidays and charity, particularly during such difficult financial times in America, that Bear Creek Music and Art Festival should host a food drive to help support The Food Bank of Suwannee Valley, a local food bank. This organization has been feeding thousands of area residents many years. Please bring canned and non-perishable goods to Bear Creek and leave in specified receptacle barrels. "We assure you that this food will help hungry persons sleep better at night having something good in their stomachs," Levine said. In addition there will be a Bear Creek Feed the Hungry Disc Golf Tournament Nov. 16 at the SOSMP disc golf course onsite during the three-day festival. This event will raise funds for the food bank, celebrate the opening of the course and provide fun for participants and food for the hungry. Those interested in playing will find the info on the program at the festival. Tournament registration will take place in front of the Country Store all day Saturday and from 9-10 a.m. Sunday. The event will start at 10 a.m. and conclude by about 1 p.m.

The winning team members will each receive two weekend passes for the 2009 Bear Creek Music Festival.

The SOSMP is an environmentally friendly facility committed to enhancing its "green" policies. The Bear Creek Music and Art Festival will help will stress green policies during the festival. During the coming years, festival goers and venue patrons will see improvements through the use of biodegradable materials; water conservation policies; habitat protection efforts; recycling; and more.
