Coach’s Forum - Bradford

Tornadoes fall to Houston Christian, 37-13

This past Friday the Tornadoes traveled to Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex to play in the KSA game of the week vs. Houston Christian High School. The experience was a great opportunity for our young men even though we came out on the losing end. The Mustangs were a tough and well coached football team.

The final score was not a true indication of how close the game was. Our team was its own worse enemy as we lost five turnovers for the second game in a row. It was like Déjà vu from the Keystone game as we fumbled on the first play from scrimmage to give the Texans a short field to score. Our young men battled through out the game. Several of our players played tough but as a team we were not consistent.

KSA picked senior DE Gerald Goodman as our defensive MVP. Gerald played well but was sidelined early in the third quarter due to a severe ankle sprain. KSA also selected junior LB/TE and return specialist CJ Covington as our offensive MVP. CJ played early with a slight shoulder separation that occurred earlier in the week during practice. He was very active returning kicks and returned a kick off 96 yards for a score. As luck would have it he reinjured it and was unable to finish the game. We also lost our most consistent OL in Steven Yeauger to a severe lower leg injury.

Our season was a tough road to travel this year as we finished 3-7. Our returning players started today in preparing for next season. We look to be much improved next year, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Several talented jv and former middle school players have a chance to make a great impact for us next season. The 09 season can not begin soon enough to erase the pain from the struggles of this year.

I would like to thank this years seniors for all of the leadership that they displayed and my assistants for all of their hard work. It was a pleasure working with so many great young men and staff. Thanks for the memories.

GO TORNADOES!
