Lake City doc loses license for prescribing meds
     NOVEMBER 25, 2008 - A Lake City physician’s license was revoked Tuesday for over prescribing controlled substances to at least two patients who both died. Columbia County Sheriff’s detectives investigated both cases in which the cause of death was determined by the Medical Examiner to be lethal amounts of prescribed medications. Both victims were patients of Dr. Barnie Vanzant.

Teen who shot Dad with crossbow sentenced to prison
     MACCLENNY, FL/November 25, 2008 - Nearly one year ago, 56-year-old David John Cranford was found laying on his stomach with an arrow protruding from his lower back in a vacant mobile home in Baker County. On Monday his 16-year-old son plead guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to five years in prison. Cranford admitted shooting his father with a crossbow but claimed it was an accident.

     JACKSONVILLE, FL - U.S. Attorney A. Brian Albritton announced today that, following a bench trial in the U.S. District Court in Jacksonville, Isla Machelle Brumfield was found guilty of aiding and abetting both aggravated identity theft and bank fraud.
