By DAVID THEUS

My Health Quest

Sorry, I couldn’t weight… get it?

It’s been two weeks since my last weigh in and all is well. I have lost 8 pounds in the last two weeks, bringing my total weight loss to 23 pounds in six weeks - that’s almost four pounds a week! My original goal was to be around two to two and a half pounds a week, so I guess I’m doing okay. Only 102 pounds to go!

I changed a few things up these last two weeks. I am still eating my new favorite breakfast treat… Oatmeal, I love oatmeal. I have a rich in protein snack around 10:00am, usually a 5-6 ounce serving of tuna fish packed in water or the same amount of chicken breast mixed with a tablespoon of mayonnaise and salt and pepper to taste.

I still eat a light lunch around 1:00pm and another high in protein snack around 4:00pm. Several days this past week I enjoyed soup for lunch, the cool weather made my love for good soup surface. I picked up several cans of Roasted Chicken Rotini soup from Progresso, it has only 80 calories per serving and a low fat content as well. The good part was the six grams of protein and only eleven grams of total carbohydrates.

For dinner these past two weeks, I’ve tried a new product, instead of a traditional dinner, I have incorporated a meal replacement shake from Isagenix. It’s called IsaLean Shake and this particular one happens to be French Vanilla in flavor. It’s loaded with vitamins and minerals and it has 28grams of carbohydrates when made with purified ice water, and 23 grams of protein. Made with skim or 1% milk is delicious too - yet another source for protein. I also used one other supplement during these past two weeks. Isagenix provides a snack that is a chocolate wafer with only 4 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of additional protein per serving (two wafers) when I felt I needed something sweet.

I think it’s important to mix things up a little so that I don’t get bored eating the same thing day after day after day. These past two weeks, I found my change of eating habits to be very sensitive to my busy schedule. The nights I had the shake for dinner, I felt full and the clean up was a breeze.
