Baldwin Coach's Corner
Final Edition - Bowl Week
This past Thursday, we competed in the Country Federal Credit Union Bowl against the Union County Tigers. This bowl game was an accumulation of a successful season at Baldwin Middle-Senior High School. We came into this bowl game with a 6-4 record and looked to end our season on a winning note.
Both teams came out ready to play and the excitement was felt all throughout the stadium. Union County was without a doubt the bigger and faster team, but that is the way it has been for us all year. However, we proved, as we have all year long, that we were able to compete with the stronger, faster Tigers. However, in the end, Union County won the game 42 to 20, but that score only tells some of the story. It doesn't say anything as to how our team played their hearts out until the very end and it doesn't say how proud we the coaches were for just making it to a bowl game. Win or loose, this game was an accomplishment for the Baldwin Indians.
In closing, I would like to thank several people and organizations for all the help given to us this year. First and foremost, Country Federal Credit Union. Country Federal has been our biggest corporate sponsor for the past two years. Without them, many things we have now at Baldwin High would not be possible. Secondly, every local church that provided our pre-game meals this year. They include First Baptist Church of Baldwin, First Methodist Church of Baldwin, Grace Baptist, Brandy Branch Baptist Church, Baldwin Assembly of God Church and Old Plank Road Baptist Church. Every meal was superb and all churches made everyone feel welcome each and every time we walked in. Only in a small town like Baldwin can you feel the genuine care that comes from local support. Next, I would like to thank the administration and faculty at Baldwin Middle-Senior High School. Dr. Donna Richardson (principal), Mr. Earl Fouraker (vice-principal), Dean Ledford (athletic director), and the rest of the administration provided the support within the walls of Baldwin Middle-Senior High. They truly care about their student-athletes and it showed this season. Finally, I need to thank my staff and my players. Without all of you this season would not have been possible. You coaches worked many hours to make us a better team, and you players took the word "FAMILY" and made us just that. You will forever be a special team not only in the eyes of the school, but also in my heart. Thanks for a great year.
GO INDIANS!!!!
