Florida Named Best Trails State in the Nation
     Florida has been named the Best Trails State in the nation by American Trails. American Trails presents the National Trails Awards every two years to recognize the contributions of volunteers, professionals, agencies and other leaders who are working to create a national system of trails for all Americans. New this year, the Best Trails State award recognizes Florida for its vision, initiatives and management of its statewide trails system.

Florida's GTM Research Reserve a Paddler’s Delight
     PONTE VEDRA BEACH –The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM Research Reserve)recently won the "Best place to canoe or kayak" in the 2008 Folio Weekly Reader’s "Best of Jax" poll. The GTM Research Reserve also has hiking, biking, fishing, and bird watching available as recreational activities, all of which are based around the reserve’s rich variety of natural resources.
