Mobile office to issue driver licenses, ID cards at holiday celebration this weekend

GREEN COVE SPRINGS/December 4, 2008 - The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is pleased to announce its partnership with the city of Green Cove Springs to bring services directly to customers, saving them a possible trip to our offices. On Dec. 6, the Florida Licensing On Wheels mobile will participate in the Christmas on Walnut Street 2008 Celebration.

The hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Florida Licensing On Wheels mobile units are equipped with the technology and ability to bring valuable services directly to customers. They provide a convenient method to renew a driver license, obtain a duplicate driver license, change a name or address on a driver license, get an identification card, register a vehicle and purchase a specialty license plate. The FLOW mobile also offers safety initiatives through Emergency Contact Information registration, identification cards for children (ages five and older) and safety campaigns by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Customers wishing to obtain a driver license or identification card must bring an original or certified copy of their birth certificate and proof of their Social Security number. A complete list of acceptable identification documents is provided at www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/faqkeys.html. In addition to cash and personal checks, the Department accepts the following credit cards: MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
