Bryan Adams to perform at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Bryan Adams continues his highly successful solo-acoustic concert tour in select U.S. cities this winter. The intimate concert will come to Gainesville’s Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Friday, January 9 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 14 at noon at the Phillips Center Box Office, the University Box Office at the University of Florida Reitz Union and all Ticketmaster outlets.

Adams has interspersed these special sold-out performances in between stadium dates in Europe and the United States, and this new spin on his classic hits has been met with rave reviews from critics and fans alike:

"Armed only with a small array of acoustic guitars, Adams packed enthusiastic fans — sometimes a bit too enthusiastic — into the intimate Sheldon for a great night of music and insight." St. Louis Post Dispatch

"Adams, 48, was utterly comfortable, interacting with the fans, joking about his capo (a device clamped onto the guitar strings to raise its pitch), inviting women from the upper balcony to sit in two of the few empty seats in the house (they took him up on it), handing out picks, quips, compliments and gratitude." Columbus Post Dispatch

"They sang along with the ever-so-familiar choruses, filled in vocal gaps he left for them, clapped the missing drum parts, hummed the missing solos, and roared their approval after every offering, right up to a long and hearty standing ovation after Run to You." Toronto Star

"Threading hits with new material, the soundtrack-singer and celebrity-portrait shooter (the stage design consisted of six towering lighting stands), succeeded in transferring his emotional ballads and crafted, sing-along rock to a mature setting." Globe and Mail.

The singer/songwriter has been touring the world in support of his new album 11, and is currently on tour in Europe and the U.K. As Canada’s best known ambassador, Bryan Adams has spent the last three decades making music history. He has sold more than 65 million records, toured six continents and achieved #1 status in more than 40 countries around the world. With hits such as Cuts Like a Knife, Summer of ‘69, Kids Wanna Rock, Can’t Stop This Thing We’ve Started, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, Open Road and most recently Thought I’d Seen Everything, Adams’ status as one of the great songwriter’s of our time has been solidified.

He has been awarded the Order of Canada and in 2006, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards in Halifax. He has been nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes and Grammys and last year his handprint was added to the Wembley Square of Fame in celebration of his 25th show at the famed stadium.

Bryan’s outstanding live concerts have established him as one of the world’s best rock singers, performing more than 120 concerts a year.

The show at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts provides a rare opportunity for fans to see Adams as they’ve not seen him before.
