Gators will play Oklahoma in the BCS Championship Game

Gators will play Oklahoma in the BCS Championship Game

GAINESVILLE, Fla - It's official: Florida will play Oklahoma for the BCS championship January 8 at Dolphin Stadium.

The Gators climbed two spots to No. 2 in the BCS standings a day after their 31-20 victory over previous No. 1 Alabama on Saturday in the Georgia Dome.

They now will play for their third national championship trophy in the program's 103-year history, and second in three years under coach Urban Meyer.

Florida and Oklahoma have combined to play 216 seasons of football, yet this national championship game will be their first meeting.

The game also pits the two leading Heisman candidates against each other, Tebow against Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. The award will be presented Saturday in New York City.
