Hamilton C.I. Canine Unit Captures Attempted Murder Suspect

On November 7, 2008, the Hamilton Correctional Institution Canine Unit was called upon to assist the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Department and the Live Oak Police Department in apprehending a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder. According to police reports, the victim was shot in the leg and transported to a nearby hospital.

Upon arrival at the scene, located off of County Road 249, the Canine Team consisting of Sergeant Johnny Morris, Lieutenant Stanley Cribbs and Officer Steven Folsom quickly established a track with Canine "Buck" and after a short distance located the suspect lying on the ground concealed under a tree a limb.

As reported by the Suwannee Democrat, Juan Urbina was arrested on charges of attempted second degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and tampering with evidence. Officials also indicated that Urbina is an undocumented alien.
