TALLAHASSEE - Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles H. Bronson is announcing the top ten list of complaints for calendar year 2008. It’s no surprise that the no sales solicitation category continues to rank number one, however complaints are up substantially this year. After dropping by nearly 500 complaints in 2007 to 4223, the Do Not Call law generated 5006 written complaints in 2008. Bronson also says the department was able to provide more than 7.6 million dollars in refunds in the form of cash, goods and services, 3 million dollars more than last year. More...

TALLAHASSEE – As the first anniversary of the Florida Discount Drug Card passes, 66,218 Floridians have signed up for the card since its launch on December 20, 2007. Members have saved over $1.9 million on prescription-drug costs. Individuals qualify for the card if they are age 60 and older and do not have prescription drug coverage, or if they are in the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage gap. More...

Clay County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating numerous cases of burglaries to vending machines and, with the release of the attached photos, would like the community’s assistance in identifying the suspects. Detectives estimate that in 2008 in the Northeast Florida area these burglars stole bills and coins and caused damage to the machines totaling over $70,000. Detectives are working to determine if the suspects in various cases are working together or separately. More...
